Brochure Writing Service

Brochure Writing Services

A brochure is read in a particular order: the cover, then whatever falls open, then the rest if it has earned it. We write brochure copy for that order, then lay it out and design it with the same team.

Starting from

$199

  • Copy and design from one in-house team
  • Copy approved before design starts
  • Print-ready files to your printer's specs
  • Revisions included until the brief is met

The problem

Most brochures are a website squeezed onto paper

The usual brochure starts with the company history on the inside flap and lists every service in small type. It is accurate, it is complete, and nobody reads it. A brochure is picked up for a reason: the reader is deciding whether to visit, book, buy or call. The copy should help with that decision and nothing else.

Folded formats also change how text is read. On a tri-fold, the first thing someone sees after the cover is the inside flap, not the inside spread. On a gate-fold, the reveal in the middle is the moment of most attention. Writing that ignores the fold puts the strongest message where no one is looking.

We write the panels in the order they will be seen, with a headline that gives each panel a job, then hand the copy straight to our designers so nothing gets lost between writer and layout.

Formats

Brochure formats we write and design

Bi-fold

One fold, four panels. Good for menus, event programmes and simple service overviews where the inside spread does the work.

Tri-fold

Two folds, six panels. The most common rack and mail format; we plan each panel's role before writing a word.

Gate-fold

Two side panels fold in to meet in the middle. Suited to a launch or a product reveal, with the main message in the centre spread.

Z-fold

Panels fold back and forth like a zigzag. Works well for step-by-step information, timelines or a map.

Multi-page booklets

Stapled brochures for product ranges, course prospectuses or company profiles that need more space.

Digital brochures

PDF versions for email and download, with clickable links and a layout that reads well on screen.

What you get

What a brochure project includes

  • A short questionnaire covering brochure type, main message, audience and how it will be distributed
  • A cover headline that tells the reader why to open it
  • Panel-by-panel copy written in reading order, with a clear role for each panel
  • A copy layout showing what goes where, so you approve structure and words together
  • Design: fonts, colours, images and layout matched to your brand
  • A single, specific call to action with contact details placed where people look for them
  • Print-ready PDF with bleed and fold marks to your printer's specifications, plus a digital version on request

How it works

Copy first, then design

1. Brief

We ask about the brochure type, the message, who will read it and where it will be handed out, mailed or displayed.

2. Copy and layout plan

We write the content and show where each section sits on the folded sheet, so you can judge it in context.

3. Copy approval

You request changes until the words are right. Settling copy before design saves rounds of layout changes later.

4. Design

We finalise style, fonts, colours and images, then send proofs for your review.

5. Final files

Print-ready files to your printer's specs. Brochures are quoted with their own timeline.

Before you print

Things worth deciding early

Ask your printer for their specifications before design starts: size, fold type, bleed and paper weight all affect the layout. A tri-fold that will be mailed may need a panel for the address. Heavier stock can crack along folds unless it is scored, which is a printer's decision but changes how close text can sit to the crease.

Decide too how long the brochure must stay accurate. Prices, staff names and opening hours date quickly; if they change often, a short insert or a QR code to a web page keeps the brochure usable for longer.

Pricing

What a brochure costs

Brochure writing and design starts at $199. The final price depends on the format, the number of panels or pages, how much copy is written from scratch and whether we source or create images. You get a fixed quote before work begins.

Printing is not included, but we prepare files for any printer you choose and can advise on paper and finish.

Questions

Questions about brochure writing

Still unsure about something? Talk to a specialist — no script, no sales pitch.

Less than most people expect. Each of the six panels has room for a headline, a short paragraph or a few bullet points and some white space. Cramming more in makes the brochure harder to read. We plan the panels first and write to fit, rather than cutting a long draft down afterwards.

Yes. One in-house team handles both, which means the copy is written for the layout and the designer knows which line matters most. If you already have a designer, we can supply the copy only, with a panel plan they can work from.

It depends on how the brochure is used. A tri-fold suits racks and mailings, a bi-fold works for menus and simple overviews, a gate-fold gives a dramatic reveal for a launch, and a Z-fold suits sequences such as steps or timelines. We recommend one once we know the purpose.

We do not print, but we supply print-ready files to your printer's specifications, with bleed, crop and fold marks. We can also advise on paper weight and finish, and prepare a digital PDF for email and your website. If you have not chosen a printer yet, tell us the quantity and we can suggest suitable formats.

It depends on the format and how quickly copy is approved. Each brochure is quoted with its own timeline. Approving copy before design starts is the step that most often keeps a project on schedule, because layout changes after design take longer than text changes before it.

Your logo and brand colours if you have them, any existing marketing material, the main thing you want the reader to do, and details of where the brochure will be used. Photos are helpful; if you have none, we can source licensed images.
