Autobiography Writing Service
Autobiography Writing Service
You talk; we write. Through a series of recorded conversations we gather your memories, photos and the stories your family keeps asking you to retell, and turn them into a finished book that sounds like you.
- Written by an in-house team, never subcontracted
- Interview-led: no writing needed from you
- Printed copies available for family and friends
- Revisions included until the brief is met
The problem
Life stories get lost because writing them is hard
Almost everyone means to write their story down. Then they sit in front of a blank page, start with the day they were born, and give up somewhere in primary school. The memories are there; the problem is choosing which ones matter, putting them in an order that holds a reader, and finding the time to write tens of thousands of words.
Most people tell their stories far better than they write them. That is why our autobiography service starts with conversation, not a questionnaire. A writer who hears you tell a story, with your pauses, your jokes and the details you add when someone asks "and then what?", can put that on the page.
Which book
Autobiography, memoir or family legacy book?
The terms are often used loosely, but the choice changes how the book is planned.
Autobiography
Your whole life, usually told in order: where you came from, the turning points, the work, the people. Facts, dates and context matter, and research fills in what memory cannot.
Memoir
One part of your life, or one theme running through it: a career, an illness, an immigration, a business built and lost. More reflective, built around what the experience meant.
Family legacy book
Written for children and grandchildren rather than the public. Often includes photographs, family trees and recipes, and printed in a small run to give as gifts.

How it works
How we write your autobiography
1. Initial call
We talk about your life in outline, who the book is for, and whether it will be private or published. You get a quote and schedule.
2. Outline for approval
A proposed structure: the periods and stories each chapter will cover. You can move, add or cut anything before interviews go deeper.
3. Detailed interviews
A series of recorded phone or video interviews, chapter by chapter. Relatives can join or be interviewed separately if you want their memories included.
4. Drafts and feedback
Chapters sent to you in batches. You correct names, dates and anything that does not sound like you, and we revise until the brief is met.
5. Editing and cover
A full edit and proofread, photo placement if you are including pictures, and a cover design.
6. Final review and printing
You approve the final draft. If you have ordered printed copies, they are delivered to your door.
Honesty
Writing about real people
Every life story includes other people, and not all of them come out well. For a private family book that is mostly a question of kindness: what your grandchildren should read and what can stay unsaid. For a published memoir it can also be a legal question, because writing about living people carries the risk of privacy or defamation complaints.
We will flag passages that could cause problems and suggest ways to tell the truth without exposing you: changing names, focusing on your experience rather than another person's character, or leaving a detail out. For a book going on sale with sensitive content, we recommend a review by a lawyer; we are writers, not legal advisers.

Pricing
What autobiography writing costs
Every autobiography is quoted per project, with its own timeline. Price depends on the length of the book, the number of interview hours, how much research is needed and whether you want photographs, design and printed copies included. A focused family book of shorter length costs much less than a full published autobiography.
You get the full price, what it covers and the payment stages before you commit. Memoirs take time to get right; if you need the book for a particular birthday or anniversary, tell us on the first call so the schedule works back from that date.

Questions about autobiography writing
Still unsure about something? Talk to a specialist — no script, no sales pitch.
No. The book is written from recorded interviews, so you only need to talk. Letters, diaries, photos and any notes you have made are useful, and we will ask for them, but they are not required. You review each chapter and correct anything we got wrong.
That is the point of interviewing rather than sending forms. The writer listens to how you tell stories, the words you use and your sense of humour, and writes in that voice. The first chapters you review are where you tell us if anything sounds wrong.
Yes. If they can be interviewed, we work with them directly, with family present if that helps. If not, we work from relatives' memories, letters and records. A book about someone else is technically a biography, but the process is very similar.
Yes. Printed copies can be delivered to your door, which is popular for family legacy books given as gifts. The number of copies, format and binding are quoted with the project, so you know the full cost before writing begins.
Yes. You own all rights, and we can help with self-publishing through retailers if you want the book on sale. A book intended for the public is planned a little differently, with more attention to structure and to how other people are portrayed.
Each autobiography is quoted with its own timeline, because length and interview scheduling vary so much. Most of the calendar time is interviews and your reviews. If there is a date the book must be ready for, tell us at the start.
