The problem
Most unwritten books are not short of ideas
People who hire a ghostwriter usually know their subject better than anyone. What they lack is time, or the experience of turning what they know into 200 pages that hold a reader from start to finish. A book started in spare evenings tends to stall around chapter three, when the outline runs out and the hard structural decisions arrive.
A ghostwriter takes that work off you. You supply the substance through interviews, notes, recordings and drafts; the writer supplies the structure, the sentences and the deadline. Done properly, the result reads like you on your best day, not like a hired writer's house style.
That last part is the difference between good and poor ghostwriting, and it is why most of our process is spent listening before anything is written.
The arrangement
How ghostwriting works with us
These are the terms people most often ask about before they commit. They are written into every agreement.
You are the author
The book is published under your name. By default we take no credit anywhere. If you would prefer a "with" credit or an acknowledgement, that is your choice, agreed in writing.
The rights are yours
Copyright and all rights in the manuscript transfer to you on final payment. We do not receive royalties, and we do not reuse your material in anyone else's book.
Confidential by default
We do not name our ghostwriting clients or show their books in a portfolio. If you want a signed NDA before you share anything, send yours or use ours.
Flat project fee
You pay an agreed fee for the writing, usually in stages tied to delivered chapters. There is no share of your sales or advance.

How it works
From first conversation to finished manuscript
1. Scoping call
What the book is, who it is for, roughly how long it should be and what you already have. You get a fixed quote and a schedule in writing.
2. Interviews and material
Recorded interviews, by video or phone, plus anything you have written, said or presented. This is where your voice, phrases and opinions are captured.
3. Outline for approval
A chapter-by-chapter outline showing what each chapter covers and why it sits where it does. Nothing is drafted until you agree it.
4. Sample chapter
One chapter written in full so you can judge the tone before the rest is written. We adjust until it sounds like you.
5. Drafting in batches
The remaining chapters arrive in batches for your comments, so changes are made as we go rather than all at the end.
6. Edit and handover
A full edit and proofread of the finished manuscript, revisions until the brief is met, then the final files in Word.
Your voice
Sounding like you is a method, not a talent
Before drafting, the writer builds a short voice profile from your interviews: the words you use and the ones you never would, how long your sentences run when you explain something, whether you tell stories or make lists, how formal you are with strangers. Every chapter is checked against it.
The sample chapter tests the profile. Most clients' feedback at that stage is specific: "I would never say that," "this is too polished," "more of the story about the first shop." Those notes are worth more than any style guide, and they shape the rest of the book.

Pricing
What book ghostwriting costs
Ghostwriting is quoted per project, with its own timeline, because books vary too much for a single rate to be honest. The main price factors are length, how much research the subject needs, how much usable material you already have, and how many interview hours it takes to get the story out of you.
A short, focused nonfiction book built from strong existing material costs far less than a long memoir that starts from nothing but memory. Fiction with a complex world, or a series, sits at the other end. You get the full price and payment schedule before you commit, and you can add editing, cover design and publishing support to the same project if you want them.
Be wary of very low flat prices for a full book. They usually mean a template, a writer who has never spoken to you, or content assembled from elsewhere.

Yes. Ghostwriting is a long-standing and common practice in publishing, especially for memoirs and books by experts and public figures. The ideas, experience and story are yours; the ghostwriter provides the writing skill. It is no different in principle from a speechwriter or an editor who substantially reshapes a manuscript.
Not from us. We do not name ghostwriting clients, list their books or use them as samples, and we will sign an NDA before you share anything. If you choose to credit the writer, for example with an acknowledgement, that is your decision.
You do. The agreement transfers copyright and all rights in the manuscript to you on final payment. We receive a flat fee, not royalties, and keep no claim on the book, its sales, film rights or anything else that comes from it.
The heaviest part is the start: several hours of interviews spread over a few weeks. After that you mainly review the outline, the sample chapter and each batch of chapters. Most clients find it takes a few hours a month once drafting is under way.
Each book is quoted with its own timeline after the scoping call, because length, research and your availability for interviews all affect it. A short nonfiction book is much quicker than a full-length memoir or novel. If you have a launch or event date, tell us at the start.
Yes, if you want it. We offer editing, cover design, interior layout and self-publishing support as separate services. Ghostwriting alone ends with a finished manuscript that you are free to take to any publisher or agent. If you add publishing support, it is planned alongside the writing so the files are ready when the manuscript is.
