Transcription Writing Service

Transcription Writing Service

A recording is only useful if people can read, search and quote it. We transcribe interviews, podcasts, meetings and videos accurately, and if you want more than a transcript, our writers turn the recording into finished content.

Starting from

$0.90

  • Transcribed and checked by people, not just software
  • Speaker labels and timestamps on request
  • Recordings and transcripts kept confidential
  • Done by an in-house team, never subcontracted

The problem

Automatic transcripts get you most of the way. The rest matters.

Speech recognition software has improved a great deal, and for a clear recording of one speaker it can produce a usable draft. Its accuracy drops with background noise, accents, technical vocabulary, people talking over each other and poor microphones. It also tends to get names, product terms and numbers wrong, which are often the exact words you need to quote.

A transcript with a wrong figure in a quote, or a speaker attributed incorrectly, is worse than no transcript at all if it ends up published. That is why every transcript we deliver is produced and checked by a person who listens to the recording.

And a transcript is often only the starting point. A podcast becomes show notes and a blog post; an interview becomes a profile; a webinar becomes a guide. Our team can do that writing too.

Styles

Choose the transcript you need

Clean verbatim

Every meaningful word, with filler words, false starts and stumbles removed so it reads easily. The usual choice for interviews, podcasts and content.

Full verbatim

Everything said, including ums, repetitions and noted non-speech sounds such as laughter or pauses. Used for research, legal and evidential purposes.

Timestamped transcripts

Time codes at set intervals or at each speaker change, for editing video or finding moments quickly.

Captions and subtitles

Transcripts formatted as caption files for video platforms, helping viewers who watch without sound or who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Transcription writing

Turn the recording into content

This is where we differ from a typing service. With the transcript done, our writers can produce:

  • Podcast show notes with a summary, key points and time-stamped topics
  • Blog posts and articles written from an interview or talk, in the speaker's voice
  • Q&A-format interviews edited for reading
  • Quote sheets pulling out the strongest lines for social media and press
  • Meeting minutes and summaries with actions listed
  • Guides and e-books built from a webinar or course recording

Good audio

How to get the most accurate transcript

Audio quality affects accuracy and price more than anything else. Record in a quiet room, keep microphones close to speakers, and use separate tracks for each person if your setup allows it. Ask participants to introduce themselves at the start so we can label speakers correctly, and send us a list of names, places and technical terms that come up.

Where a word genuinely cannot be made out, we mark it as inaudible with a timestamp rather than guessing. You will always know which parts of the transcript are certain.

Pricing

What transcription costs

Transcription starts at $0.90 per audio minute for clear recordings. Difficult audio, many speakers, full verbatim, timestamps and fast turnaround can increase the rate, and you get a fixed quote after we have heard a sample. Writing from transcripts, such as show notes or articles, is quoted separately at our content rates.

Questions

Questions about transcription

Still unsure about something? Talk to a specialist — no script, no sales pitch.

Full verbatim records everything, including filler words like "um", repetitions, false starts and sounds such as laughter. Clean verbatim keeps every meaningful word but removes those distractions so the text reads smoothly. Clean verbatim suits most business and content uses; full verbatim is used where exactly how something was said matters.

Every transcript is produced and checked by a person who listens to the recording. Software can help with a first pass on clear audio, but it struggles with accents, crosstalk, names and specialist terms, so a human review is what makes the transcript reliable enough to quote.

It depends on recording length and audio quality. Short, clear recordings are typically returned within 2 business days. Long recordings, difficult audio or large batches are quoted with their own delivery date, and urgent turnaround can be arranged when you request your quote.

Yes. Recordings and transcripts are used only for your project and handled by our in-house team. For sensitive interviews, research data or business meetings, we are happy to sign your NDA before you upload anything. Files are deleted once the project is complete if you ask us to.

Common audio and video formats such as MP3, WAV, M4A and MP4, or a link to a file or video you host. Transcripts are delivered in Word, Google Docs, PDF or plain text, and captions as standard subtitle files if you need them.
