Link Building

Link Building Services

Links that were given rather than bought — which is slower, costs more per link, and is the only version that does not put your site at risk.

  • No paid placements, no private blog networks, no link exchanges
  • No guaranteed link counts — an editor decides, not us
  • Every placement reported with the outreach behind it
  • No lock-in contract on standard services

The position

Two different things are sold under this name

The first is buying placements: a price per link, usually tiered by domain authority, on sites that exist to sell them. It is fast, it is measurable, and it is a link scheme under Google's guidelines.

The important detail is who carries the consequence. The penalty attaches to the site being linked to — yours — not to the vendor who sold the placement. When it goes wrong, the vendor has been paid and you have the problem.

The second is earning links: producing something worth citing and putting it in front of people who might cite it. Nobody can guarantee the outcome, because the decision belongs to an editor. That is precisely why it carries no risk.

We do the second. If you want the first, there are agencies that will sell it to you, and we would rather say so than take the work and quietly buy links on your behalf.

What we will not do

Stated plainly, because it is the part that matters

Every item below is common in this industry and every one transfers the risk to your domain.

  • Buy links, or place them on sites that charge for inclusion
  • Use private blog networks or sites built to host links
  • Price by domain authority tier, which only makes sense if links are being bought
  • Guarantee a number of links per month, which requires paying for them
  • Mass-distribute press releases for the syndicated link mentions
  • Reciprocal link exchanges arranged at scale
  • Comment, forum and directory links, which do nothing and look like what they are

How it works

What we actually do instead

1. Find what is citable

Original data, a genuinely useful tool or resource, a position worth arguing with, or expertise a journalist needs. Without one of these there is nothing to pitch, and we will say so.

2. Build the asset

Usually the largest part of the work. A survey of your own customers, an analysis of data you already hold, or a resource that answers something nobody has answered properly.

3. Build a short target list

Publications your buyers actually read, chosen by audience rather than by domain authority. A short researched list outperforms a long generic one.

4. Outreach

Individually written pitches offering something specific to that publication. Sent under your name, so the relationship stays with you.

5. Report honestly

What was pitched, to whom, what landed, and what was declined. Including the months where the answer is not many.

Expectations

What this realistically produces

Fewer links than a paid campaign, from better places, over a longer period. A campaign built around a genuine asset might earn a handful of placements over a quarter — and a handful of editorial links from publications your buyers read is worth considerably more than fifty from sites nobody reads.

Some campaigns land very little. That happens when the asset was not as interesting as we thought, and the honest response is to say so rather than to make the numbers up with directory submissions.

Nofollow links are counted as a result here. A placement in a publication your buyers read delivers referral traffic and credibility whether or not the link passes authority, and good publications increasingly mark contributor links nofollow as a matter of policy.

Pricing

What it costs

Quoted per campaign rather than per link. A per-link price would imply we can produce links on demand, which is the model this page exists to argue against.

Most of the cost sits in the asset — the survey, the analysis, the resource — because that is what determines whether anyone cites it. Outreach without something worth pitching is cheap and returns nothing.

Tell us what data or expertise you have that nobody else does, and we will tell you honestly whether there is a campaign in it before quoting.

Questions

Questions about link building

Still unsure about something? Talk to a specialist — no script, no sales pitch.

We will not give you a number, and a service that does is buying them. Placement is an editor's decision. What we commit to is the asset, the research and the outreach — the parts within our control.

Because the alternative price is for a purchased placement, and the risk of that sits on your domain rather than the vendor's. You are paying for links that cannot be taken away from you later.

Yes. Referral traffic from an audience that matches your buyers, and the credibility of having been published there, both remain. If the passed authority is the only thing you value, this is not the right service.

We write press releases where there is genuine news. We do not mass-distribute them for syndicated link mentions, which is a link scheme with a respectable name and produces near-identical copies of your announcement across low-value sites.

Auditing an existing profile and disavowing what needs disavowing is separate work, and it is worth doing before starting anything new. Tell us what was bought and by whom, and we will tell you what we would do.

Months, not weeks. The asset has to be built, pitched and picked up, and any ranking effect follows the links rather than arriving with them. If you need movement this quarter, this is not the lever.
