Author Website
Author Website Design Service
Your author website is the one place online you control. Readers, hosts and booksellers go there to find out who you are, what you have written and where to buy it. We design the site and write the words, so it does that job from the first visit.
- Design and copy from one in-house team
- Built on a platform you can update yourself
- Mobile-friendly and set up for search
- Revisions included until the brief is met
The problem
Why many author websites do not help
A lot of author sites are either a template with a photo and a paragraph of bio, or an elaborate design that makes it hard to find the books. Both miss the point. Most visitors arrive with a simple question: what is this author's latest book, is it for me, and where do I get it? If the answer takes more than a few seconds to find, they leave.
The other common gap is the newsletter. Most people who visit an author website will only come once, often straight after hearing an interview or seeing a post. A site that does not invite them to sign up loses them for good, while one that does turns a single visit into a reader you can reach at your next launch.
Social platforms change their rules and reach constantly. Your website and email list are the parts of your author platform that stay yours.
What it includes
The pages every author site needs
We adjust the structure to your books and goals, but most author websites we build include the following.
- Home page that leads with your newest or upcoming book and a newsletter sign-up
- A page for each book: cover, description, review quotes, series order and buy links to several retailers
- Books page grouping titles by series or genre, so new readers know where to start
- About page with a reader-facing bio and a professional photo
- Media or press page: short and long bio, photos, book details and sample interview questions
- Events and appearances page you can update as interviews and signings are confirmed
- Contact page with a form, so your email address is not exposed to spam bots
- Optional blog or news section, connected to your email newsletter tool

What we do
Design, copy and build
Brand identity
Colours, type and imagery that suit your genre and sit comfortably next to your covers, whether your books are dark thrillers or practical business guides.
Content and structure
We write the home page, bio, book pages and calls to action, and arrange the navigation so every book is two clicks from anywhere.
Responsive build
A site that loads quickly and reads well on a phone, where many visitors arrive from social media and podcasts.
Search setup
Page titles, descriptions and structure set up so a search for your name or book titles finds your site.
Book showcase
Book pages and buy buttons that are easy to add to, so a new release takes minutes to publish rather than a redesign.
Maintenance and support
A handover showing you how to update the site, plus optional ongoing maintenance, hosting and updates if you would rather not.
How it works
From brief to launch
1. Brief
Your books, readers, sites you like and what you want visitors to do. We confirm pages, features and a fixed quote.
2. Copy and design
We write the page copy and design the home and book page layouts for your approval.
3. Build
The full site built and connected to your newsletter tool, domain and retailer links, then tested on phone and desktop.
4. Launch and handover
Revisions until the brief is met, then launch and a walkthrough so you can add books and events yourself.
Choosing
What to check before hiring an author website designer
Ask who writes the words. Many designers expect you to supply all the copy, and a polished design with a weak bio and vague book descriptions still underperforms. Ask whether you will be able to add a new book or event yourself, or whether every change needs a paid request. And ask who owns the domain and hosting account: it should be you.
Also check that the site connects to the email tool you use, and that buy links go to more than one retailer if your book is widely available. Those details decide whether the site actually works for your career, not just how it looks on launch day.
Pricing
What an author website costs
Author websites are quoted with their own timeline and price after the brief. The main factors are the number of books and pages, whether we write all the copy, any extras such as a blog, direct sales or a reader magnet download, and whether you want ongoing maintenance. You know the full price before we start.
A website will not sell books by itself, and we do not promise traffic or sales figures. What it does is make sure every reader, host and bookseller who looks you up finds a clear, current, professional answer.

At minimum: a home page featuring your latest book, a page for each book with description and buy links, an about page with bio and photo, a newsletter sign-up, and a contact form. Many authors also need a media page with bios and images for hosts and journalists, and an events page for appearances.
Yes, if you want a lasting platform. Social accounts depend on each platform's rules and algorithms, and a profile cannot hold a full book catalogue, a media kit and a newsletter sign-up the way a website can. Your site and email list are the parts of your platform you own.
Yes, and it is often a good idea. A simple site with a coming-soon book page, your bio and a newsletter sign-up lets you start collecting interested readers before launch. When the book is released, the page gets its buy links and the site grows with each new title.
Yes. We build on a platform you can manage and show you how to add books, events and posts at handover. If you would rather not touch it, ongoing maintenance and updates are available, with no lock-in on standard services.
Yes. Writing is our main service, so the home page, bio, book descriptions and calls to action are written by our copywriters, or edited from what you already have. That is usually the difference between a site that looks good and one that turns visitors into readers.
Each site is quoted with its own timeline after the brief, because a single-book site and a site for a long series with a blog are very different jobs. The biggest variable is usually how quickly we receive photos, book files and feedback.
