Who it is for

For authors who want to write, not manage a publishing project

Self-publishing gives you control, but it also hands you dozens of small decisions: trim size, paper colour, ebook exclusivity, which retailers to reach, how to word the description, which categories to choose. Each one is simple on its own. Together they take time that many authors would rather spend on the next book.

Ultimate Publishing is for that author. The work is handled by our team, and the decisions are explained by a consultant who knows your book, so you approve choices instead of researching them.

Author consulting

Decisions your consultant helps you make

Formats

Whether to release paperback, ebook and hardback together, and in which order.

Exclusivity

Whether to enrol the ebook in Kindle-only programmes or sell it on every store, and what each choice gives up.

ISBNs and imprint

Whether to buy your own ISBNs and publish under an imprint name, or use a platform's free ISBN.

Pricing

A list price that covers printing costs and sits sensibly against comparable books in your genre.

Distribution

How distribution works

Most self-published print books are sold through print-on-demand: a copy is printed when a reader orders it, so there is no stock to store. Amazon KDP covers Amazon's own stores, and a wholesale distributor such as IngramSpark makes a book available to bookstores and libraries that order through its network. Ebooks can go to Kindle alone or to several ebook stores.

Being listed is not the same as being stocked. Distribution makes a book orderable; it does not mean bookstores will put it on their shelves. We explain what each channel realistically does for a book like yours, then set up the ones you choose.

How it works

How the package runs

1. Planning call

Your consultant learns your goals, readers and deadlines, and maps out formats and channels.

2. Edit and proofread

Tracked-change editing for your approval, followed by a separate proofread.

3. Format and check

Print and ebook interiors built and checked against each platform's rules.

4. Distribute

Listings set up on the channels you chose, then checked once they go live.

Adding to the package

What you might add

Ultimate Publishing covers producing and releasing the book. Cover design, illustrations, an author website and launch marketing are quoted separately, because authors often have some of these already. If you want the launch handled too, compare the Book Launch Bundle.

Questions

Questions about Ultimate Publishing

Still unsure about something? Talk to a specialist — no script, no sales pitch.

Editing, proofreading, print and ebook formatting, compliance checks on each platform, one-to-one author consulting and distribution set-up to the channels you choose. It is the most complete package for text-led books. Cover design and marketing can be added if you need them.

Basic and Economy focus on getting the manuscript ready and guiding you through publishing it yourself. Ultimate adds a consultant who works with you throughout and has our team set up distribution, so far less of the process falls on you.

Distribution can make your print book available to order by bookstores and libraries, but stores decide what to stock. Print-on-demand titles are usually ordered for customers rather than shelved. We are honest about this up front and can discuss marketing if physical retail matters to you.

Yes, a hardback can be included in the distribution plan if your book suits it. Hardbacks have their own trim and page-count limits on each platform, and a higher printing cost, so your consultant will check that it makes sense first.

We recommend publishing through accounts in your name, so sales reports and royalties go directly to you. Ask us to confirm the account and ownership arrangements for your project in writing. Your consultant can walk you through setting up each account, so you understand where everything lives and can manage it yourself after release.

Each book is quoted with its own timeline, based on length and editing depth. Platform review times and your approvals are built into the schedule your consultant shares at the start. If you have a fixed date, such as a conference or launch event, tell us at the start and we will plan backwards from it and say honestly whether it is achievable.
