Pick a package by what your book needs, not by its name
Publishing packages are easy to compare badly. Authors tend to choose the middle option, or the one with the longest list, without asking whether the manuscript needs those things. A well-edited novel with a cover already commissioned does not need the same package as a first draft of an illustrated cookbook.
Three questions decide most choices. Has the manuscript been professionally edited? Is the interior text-only, or does it rely on colour images? And do you want help after publication, with launch and promotion, or only up to the point the book goes on sale?

How package prices are set
Package prices depend mainly on the length of the manuscript, the level of editing it needs and, for colour books, the number of images. We confirm the price for your book after reading a sample, and list every inclusion in writing so you can compare like for like.
If a package includes something you already have, tell us. We would rather adjust the scope than charge you for work you do not need. See our pricing page for how quotes are put together.

Basic Publishing concentrates on getting the text ready: manuscript review, editing, proofreading and preparation. Ultimate Publishing adds formatting, one-to-one author consulting and distribution, so more of the process is handled for you. If your manuscript is already well edited, the difference is mostly how much of the publishing step you want to do yourself.
Only if colour is part of the content: photographs, illustrations, charts that rely on colour, or a picture book. A novel with a colour cover does not need one, because covers are printed in colour in every package. Colour interiors cost more to print per copy, so they also affect your list price.
Yes. If an early read shows the manuscript needs more editing, or less, we will tell you and adjust the scope before that stage starts. Any change in price is agreed with you in writing first. You never pay for a stage that has not been agreed, and work already completed is not repeated.
Promotion is part of the Book Launch Bundle and the Discounted Bundles. The other packages focus on producing and releasing the book. Marketing can be added to any package separately once you know how you want to launch. Many authors prefer to see the finished book before deciding how much to invest in promotion.

Some books, such as a cookbook with a hardback edition or a business book with many diagrams, are easier to quote individually.
