Book Press Releases
Online Press Release Services for Authors
A new book is not news on its own; the story around it can be. We find that angle, write a press release that gives reviewers, bloggers and local media everything they need, and help you get it to the right people.
- Written by an in-house team, never subcontracted
- Book details, ISBN and buy links checked
- Media kit and pitch email available
- Revisions included until the brief is met
The problem
"Local author publishes book" is not a headline
Editors and reviewers are offered far more new books than they could ever cover, and they know it. A release that simply announces your book and pastes in the back-cover blurb gives them no reason to write about it.
What gets attention is a reason to care now. A novel set in the town where the newspaper is based. A memoir about an experience in the news this month. A business book with a counterintuitive finding. An author with an unusual background. A launch event that readers can attend. The release leads with that angle, and the book is the evidence.
We dig for the angle first, then write a release that a time-pressed books editor or blogger could use almost as it stands.
Angles
Book press releases we write
Launch announcements
Release date, formats, price and where to buy, built around the strongest story the book offers.
Local interest releases
For your hometown and regional media, who are often the most receptive outlets for an independent author.
Topical tie-ins
Connecting a non-fiction book or a novel's subject to a current story, anniversary or awareness date.
Event and signing releases
Launch parties, readings, festival appearances and library talks, with the practical details editors need.
Milestones and awards
Award shortlists, new editions, translations or audiobook releases, written with a news angle.
Expert-author releases
For non-fiction authors: positioning you as a source journalists can call on your subject.
Not sure which option fits?
Send us the brief. You will get a scope, a timeline and a fixed price within 24 hours — no obligation.
- A headline and opening paragraph built on a news angle, not a blurb
- A quote from you that adds something personal: why you wrote it, what readers will find
- Book details: title, author, genre, publication date, formats, page count, price and ISBN
- Where to buy, with links checked before the release goes out
- A short author bio and contact details for interviews and review copies
- Optional: a one-page media kit with cover image, author photo and sample interview questions
- Optional: a short pitch email to send to individual reviewers and journalists
Distribution
Getting it to the right people
For most authors, a targeted list beats a mass blast. A personal email to twenty book bloggers in your genre, your local newspaper and radio station, and the alumni magazine of your university will often do more than a release sent to every general newsroom. We can help you build that list and write the pitch.
Paid online distribution through a newswire is also available and can place your release on news sites and feeds. It is quoted separately, and it is worth knowing what it does and does not do: it makes the release visible, but it does not guarantee that anyone writes about your book.
We keep links in the release for readers. Google treats keyword-stuffed links in syndicated press releases as a link scheme, so they add risk rather than rankings.
How it works
From manuscript to media inbox
1. Book and author questionnaire
Your book details, your story, your location and any events or dates coming up.
2. Angle proposal
We suggest the strongest angle, or two, and agree one with you.
3. Writing
A draft release, plus media kit and pitch if ordered, typically within 2 business days of agreeing the angle.
4. Revise and send
You approve the release; then send it yourself, or we arrange distribution and help with outreach.
Pricing
What a book press release costs
Book press releases are quoted per project, depending on whether you need the release alone or with a media kit, pitch email, media list and paid distribution. You get a fixed price for the writing and a separate figure for any distribution before you commit.

Ideally before publication. Many reviewers and print outlets plan weeks or months ahead, while blogs and local news can move faster. A common approach is an early release to reviewers with advance copies, then a launch release on publication day, and further releases tied to events or milestones.
It can help, but no one can guarantee reviews or coverage. Reviewers choose books that suit their readers and their schedules. A release with a clear angle, complete details and an offer of review copies makes it easy for them to say yes, which is all an honest service can promise.
It is one of the few tools that works as well for independent authors as for publishers, especially with local media and niche bloggers. Make sure the details are complete, including ISBN and where to buy, because many outlets will check whether the book is easy to find.
A short package that makes coverage easy: the press release, cover image, author photo, short and long bios, a synopsis, sample interview questions and contact details. Journalists and podcast hosts use it to prepare without having to email you for basics.
Sometimes. It places your release on news sites and feeds, which helps people find it when they search your name or title. On its own it rarely leads to reviews or interviews. For most authors, targeted outreach to relevant reviewers and local media is the better investment.
